The first 3 weeks of school have been really good. Ms. Maynard brought in her gecko, Koomba. We made Chagall inspired stained-glass art. We have been reading "The Westing Game" as a class and it is a good book.

Back to school night

Parents,
I hope to see you at back to school night Thursday night. We will be going over all the ways we can make your child's year a great one in sixth grade. If you are unable to attend please look for a packet coming home with the Friday Green Folder. There are some forms that need to be filled out. Please also fill out the volunteer forms and return them to school. Even if you think you don't think you will be able to help out it is always easier to have them on file.

Thank you!
Ms. Maynard

Families

Families:

Families are a time to get to know other students in the school. Together we do craft projects about a certain character counts traits. In each family there is a student from each grade. This is our year to be in charge. Each time the sixth grader will pick up their kindergartener before families. This week the fifth graders will have to pick up their first graders. We are looking forward to working with our families. Our new students can’t wait to see what it’s all about.

First Days of school

This week our class is studying about pyramids and Roman times. We are also
studying Asia and Australia. We are getting into math a lot and reviewing
rounding. We did a math project where we took shapes and made an interesting
pattern.
The class also learned that Ms. Maynard might bring her gecko into class to
show us her pet. We are excited to see it. It will be Awesome!
We also completed an anthology project and we are now doing a writing
assignment.
It’s been 4 days and I think everybody has gotten used to their surroundings;
but we are about to lose a student, one of our best-spirited people, Sandeep. He
is moving to the east bay. The school year started out hard and confusing, but
like I said we are all used to our surroundings now =) I think I’ll have a good
time at this school!
